Painter and watercolorist, born in Paris on April 25, 1842, died in the same city on March 21, 1920.
He worked in Paris, Brittany, Normandy, and the south of France. Lecomte is considered one of the last prominent exponents of the “Barbizon School.”
Student of Emile Lambinet (1815-1877).
He exhibited at the “Salon des Artistes Français” from 1868 to 1914, obtaining an honorable mention in 1882, a third-class medal in 1888, and a second-class medal in 1895. He was also awarded an honorable mention at the “Exposition Universelle” of 1889 and a silver medal at the “Exposition Universelle” of 1900.

The painting described here may correspond to the painting presented “HORS CONCOURS” at the Salon des Artistes Français of 1907 titled: “Bords du Cher” (Banks of the Cher) (Cf. attached sheet)
As evidenced by an old postcard, the place depicted is in fact a view of the Cher bridge located in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
