Pair of gilded bronze and polychrome Meissen porcelain candelabras, marble base, France 19th century
Description:
Pair of gilded bronze and polychrome porcelain candelabras, marble base, France 19th century Measurements: cm H 56 X 39 cm x D 28 cm Excellent condition Price: between 12,500.00-14,500.00 Objects accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This pair of elegant three-light candelabras was made in France in the 19th century, in finely chiseled and gilded bronze. Stylistically they are attributable to the French bronzer Théodore Millet (1853-1904), who often liked to include antique porcelain elements in his bronze works. This could be the case, as the candelabras feature two finely painted polychrome porcelain figures depicting two characters, one male and one female in 18th-century clothing, supporting a container. Stylistically, these figures are inspired by the production of the famous Meissen manufactory. It dictated style trends and represented a point of reference for many other manufactories in terms of subjects and style. The bronze structure and porcelain figures rest on square bases, with rounded rear, made of marble and decorated with gilded bronze applications. The three arms, culminating in the candle holders, are chiseled with phytomorphic motifs in Rocaille style. These two highly ornamental candelabras can be easily placed on consoles, chests of drawers or tables, both antique and modern. They are particularly suitable for placement on corner cabinets thanks to the movement of the arms. They will bring great decor and vivacity to your environments thanks to the richness of the gold and decorations, with the bright colors that distinguish the fine porcelain.
