Gaetano Pesce Goto Vase 1995 Venice Biennale
Dimensions:
: 15,5 cm,: 11,5 cm,: 10 cm
Description:
The "Goto" vase designed and created by Gaetano Pesce for the "Temporanea" exhibition at Caffè Florian, during the 1995 Venice Biennale.
The vase is shaped like the head of the Lion of San Marco and has the following text imprinted on it:
"Let us toast to Venice so that it may once again become a place of modern life. Of modern behavior. Of progress. Of services. Joy. Of optimism. Of discovery. Of faith in the future. Of courage. Open to the culture of the current world.... And not a place of prejudice. Of protections. Of conservation. Of stagnation. A soporific place. Museum-cult of the past. An example of reaction. A desperate place for the younger generations. Of lethargy. Of provincialism of silent nostalgic enterprises..... No more masks-surrogates of the present time that asks Venice for the space to exist."
Underneath the base, the inscription "domus 1995, Florian Temporanea". Each Goto vase is unique, hand-cut and made of cast resin in varying colors. This vase features a mustard yellow background color that blends with green with red accents.
