MURANO GLASS WALL LAMP OPALINE LIGHT BLUE WITH TWO LIGHTS (NEW ENTRY)
Description:
Elegant Murano wall lamp with two opaline lights bordered in sky blue "morise" with leaves pulled with pliers and a light blue glass paste flower reminiscent of a daffodil. The two arms are facing upwards with a "torchon" (or "rigamenà") work and the two cups worked with "cabochon" also called "ballotton", to better reflect the light of the environment. Blown and pulled with pliers. Venice - Murano: early twentieth century Measurements: Height cm 46 Width cm. 43 Depth cm. 23.5 This wall lamp can be combined with the beautiful chandelier "ELEGANT MURANO OPALINE AND LIGHT BLUE CHANDELIER WITH SIX LIGHTS" http://www.palazzodelbuonsignore.com/gallery_dettaglio2.asp?id=377403&lingua=1 GLOSSARY: MORISE : typical Murano decoration with an undulating shape, made by hot applying a glass cord pinched with "pissegar" tongs. OPALINE GLASS It is a type of white glass similar to porcelain. It is obtained by opacifying the glass with tin oxide. Opaline glass was used in the 17th and 18th centuries as an imitation of Chinese porcelain, especially for objects decorated with enamels. Rediscovered in the 20th century by glassworks such as Barovier & Toso and MVM Cappellin. RIGAMENA' or RIGADIN RITORTO: decorative motif used in the production of Murano chandeliers, which gives the glass surface the unmistakable spiral workmanship. The technique consists of inserting the vitreous bolus, attached to the blowpipe, inside a bronze mold, called a bronzin. The texture impressed on the vitreous mass, when blown, widens to form the texture in question. It is important to remember that the mold impresses the decorative motif but not the shape, which is made strictly freehand. BALLOTON: the term indicates a particular workmanship with which the typical diamond pattern is given to the surface of the glass. This texture is obtained by inserting the vitreous bolus, attached to the blowpipe, inside a rudimentary mold, called bronzin. When blown, the ribs impressed by the mold widen to form the mesh design. It is important to remember that the mold impresses the decoration but not the shape, which is made strictly freehand. www.palazzodelbuonsignore.com www.romagnavirtualtour.it/virtual-tour-palazzo-del-buon-signore/
