Description:
(STAL74)
The Ancient Marble and Alabaster Sculptures category offers a refined Female Sculpture,
a Woman with ears of wheat in her hand made with different materials,
alabaster for the body and marble for the elegant dress.
The era of the ancient sculpture is the end of the 19th century, XIX century.
The beautiful sculpture of a standing woman is in good condition, although it has undergone some minor restorations,
in fact, two fingers of the hand have been glued, but they are original to the sculpture.
The ancient female statue in alabaster bears a signature on the base of the Italian sculptor Pugi.
Guglielmo Pugi (1850-1915) was born in Tuscany in Fiesole, and worked in Florence where he had his studio-atelier.
Many works created by the sculptor were made for the foreign market, especially to the United States,
in fact in 1901 he participated in New York at the Buffalo Fair and in 1904 in Missouri at the Exposition Universelle.
