Description:
Antique photograph frame for hanging, made of gutta-percha in the second half of the 19th century, during the height of the Victorian period. Gutta-percha, very similar to rubber but differing in its rigidity, is a vegetable-derived material whose name has Malaysian origins: getah perca, literally translated, means perca rubber, from the name of the tree from which it is extracted. The antique portrait holder is characterized by two cherubs: one is placed on the left side (photo #3), the other (photo #2) is located at the top right. The antique portrait holder, 26 cm high, 20 cm wide at the base, is in excellent condition.
