This particular travel desk was made in France in the early 19th century. It has a carved wooden structure and consists of a drop-leaf top, lined inside with leather. Once opened, there are two small drawers that can be rotated in a compass shape, and two envelope compartments that are created from three wooden panels with a shaped and curved upper profile. The top, externally on both the front and back, is lined with a non-contemporary pleated ochre fabric. The desk rests on two straight legs that end on two arched and transverse elements composed of two feet each. This system gives lightness to the furniture and equal stability, which is essential for its use.
This desk is a very decorative and unusual object. It can be placed in various locations, such as a living room or perfect in a study or bedroom. It can be used, next to antique or modern furniture, as a surface for documents or objects, giving the room the charm of an era.
