Beautiful chest of drawers with original patina featuring a four-drawer front entirely veneered in burr walnut with ebonized frames only along the perimeters. The corners of the piece are rounded and present an elegant mixtilinear burr walnut panel. The sides, with a rigorous framework highlighted by ebonized frames, feature a large quartered mirror image, also in splendid burr walnut. The top is a single plank with molded frames underneath. The feet are decorated with carved panels and grooves.
The first drawer, pulled out halfway from the piece, has a drop-front that reveals a fantastic, undulating cabinet, composed of six small drawers and two pilasters decorated with small burr walnut panels with ebonized profiles. The six drawers are veneered again in burr walnut and centered with boxwood knobs. Inside the cabinet, there are secret compartments and cases.
This piece is intact in all its parts, with its original patina, and originates from Lombardy in the very early 18th century. The extensive use of burr walnut of superb quality and the single-plank top demonstrate and highlight a high-end production of the era.
