Elegant lacquered and gilded footstool, Empire period.
Important footstool, decorated with sinuous volutes and enriched with foliage and floral motifs, resting on sculpted ball supports.
On the bottom, fire marks can be seen bearing the initials C R, divided by the crown symbol and the numbers 4855 • 1•. Marks that are also repeated on the padded frame (numbers perhaps inventory numbers).
The state of preservation of the wood is excellent, the gilding has been covered by purpurin (visible underlying gold leaf gilding) and it has been relacquered.
It needs to be stripped of paint to bring the lacquer and original gilding back to the surface.
It measures cm. 46 x 31.5 - height cm. 21.5 / 19
Object accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
