Large and important ceramic sculpture depicting Rooster, Zaccagnini  Translated
Description:
Large and important ceramic Rooster by Ugo Zaccagnini. The ceramic manufactory "Ugo Zaccagnini & Sons" was founded by Ugo Zaccagnini, a former employee of "Richard-Ginori", in Sesto Fiorentino in 1905. The company's initial production focused on the production of maiolica and earthenware in a historicist style, often inspired by the ancient models of the Della Robbia. The company, with which Zaccagnini's five children Urbano, Pietro, Prisco, Adele and Enrichetta collaborate, moved to Florence in 1912 where it began a larger production which it presented at numerous editions of the Triennale and the Milan Trade Fair and at the Craft Exhibitions of Florence. In 1936, after the death of the founder, the manufactory changed its name and became "Società Anonima Ceramiche Zaccagnini" based in Piazza Pier Vettori 10, Florence, and the position of managing director and artistic director was entrusted to the eldest of the heirs, Urbano. The collaboration with the manufactory of numerous artists including Mario Bandini, Ottorino Palloni, Maurizio Tempestini, Gino Pozzi and Leopold Anzengruber dates back to the second half of the 1930s. At the end of the 1930s, Walt Disney entrusted "Zaccagnini S.p.A.", which was based in Piazza Pier Vettori 10 in Florence in those years, with the creation in ceramic of the characters of his cartoons. In 1950, some ceramics from the company, including a series of plates, were exhibited at the Italian Craft Exhibition of the Brooklyn Museum in New York. In the 1950s, an artistic line inspired by abstractionism, called "Swedish", was added to the production. In 1958 Urbano Zaccagnini left the family manufactory and founded "Urbano Zaccagnini Ceramiche Artistiche" which remained active until the mid-sixties. "S.p.A. Zaccagnini" is still active until the year 2000. Its dimensions make it unique. Dimension: 70.5 x 45 cm  Translated
