A beautiful image, free from exaggerated distortions of great pain, depicting the face of Christ, albeit suffering, still alive and aware of his destiny. ----
The absence of extremely raw characteristics that transmit a message of infinite passion is evidently softened by a description of the "Ecce Homo" executed for private devotion and more suitable for placement in domestic environments. ----- In fact, this primary Christian iconography, which expresses in an exemplary manner the sacrifice of God made Man, could not be missing in the rooms of any believer. ----- The great Masters of Northern Italy, Spanish and Flemish devoted themselves with great masterpieces to this theme that lent itself well to expressing their pictorial skills as well as their feelings. ---- The proposed painting is of great expressive effectiveness. --- The author has been able to create a fascinating image of Christ, with a very suggestive side light, which illuminates the chest and the right side of the face with an effect of supernatural sacredness, detaching sharply from the dark background.
