This splendid armchair, made of finely carved and gilded wood and of significant size, was made in Genoa during the Louis XV period, in the mid-18th century. The pentagonal backrest has a dynamic and curvilinear profile and is decorated with carvings of phytomorphic and rocaille elements. The slightly curved armrests, adorned with carved leaves, terminate in a scroll and connect to the seat. The under-seat band is dynamic and decorated with rocaille elements, as are the arched legs and scroll feet. On the back, there was a repainting intervention in an ochre color. The backrest and seat are padded and lined in red velvet with fine ochre and grey decorations.
The type of carving gives refinement and grace to the armchair. The shaped backrest, the curved armrests, and the arched legs give elegance and charm to this seat, which can be easily integrated into any furnishing context, whether characterized by modern or antique taste.
