Double portrait datable between 1770/80, attributed to the painter from Varese, Giuseppe Bonino (1730-circa 1800).
The gentlewoman and the young girl are portrayed in a familiar attitude, the former sitting in a dignified manner on an armchair with a cane back, the latter embracing her mother while peeking out from behind her; a drapery serves as a background, executed with brushstrokes reminiscent of Antonio Magatti's style.
The reassuring gaze of the mother reflects the serenity of the relationship with her daughter, and the painter knows how to render the confidence and affection that flows between the two; it is possible that it is the family of the painter himself.
Oil on original canvas of cm.72 x 57.5; original frame.
