It represents Good defeating Evil and crushing Satan, driving him back to hell.
He holds in his right hand the sword of the leader of the Celestial Militia, victor over the rebel Lucifer, and in his left hand the scales to weigh the benign and evil behavior of souls towards God.
He is the most powerful of all the Angels, the closest to God, the one who protects from Satan and his temptations, coming to our aid in times of need.
The painting is truly very fascinating, of great strength and full of meaning.
