Polychrome porcelain incense burner, decorations and base in gilded bronze, France 19th century
Description:
Polychrome porcelain incense burner, decorations and base in gilded bronze, France 19th century Measurements: H 29 x diameter 13.5 cm; base 9.5 x 9.5 cm Price between 850.00/1,100.00 euros Item accompanied by a certificate of authenticity A refined potiche-shaped incense burner made of polychrome porcelain, painted with refined geometric decorations in gold on a light magenta red background and splendid bouquets of flowers. The base and the perforated lid band, with leaf motifs and ornamental ribbons, are in chiselled and gilded bronze. Made in France in the 19th century in the Louis XVI style, it echoes the taste of the porcelains of the famous Sèvres manufactory. An incense burner is an object usually composed of a container in which fragrant essences are burned and a perforated lid that allows the fragrance to spread into the environment. Even if it does not perform its natural function, this incense burner will have a valuable decorative function given its particular formal and coloristic line.
