The scene takes place inside a dilapidated architecture.
A low wall, a double column supporting two beams, which once formed the roof.
In the center and in the foreground, the Madonna, seated on the manger, looks lovingly at the Baby Jesus, and, with a delicate gesture, wraps him in a white cloth.
The scene is then observed: on the right side by Saint Joseph, standing with his hands clasped; by the ox, behind the Madonna; and on the left side by two characters, certainly two shepherds, who, from the outside, leaning against the low wall, look curiously.
Very original, therefore, is the construction of the scene, certainly of Venetian origin, and not strictly bound to the usual representative canons, but certainly permeated by a greater "reality", which gives it an undeniable charm.
