Antique and rare wool fabric or rug from Central Asia, Turkmenistan, embroidered in wool to imitate felt. It refers to the ancient felt rugs found under the ice of Siberia in the "kurgan" tombs, dating back to the 5th century BC and now at the Hermitage Museum in Leningrad.
The ornamental motifs have remained the same for centuries. This probably dates back to around 1920. It measures cm. 331 x 147 -
The fringes can be removed, as they were added later and are not part of the weaving.
