Rare Biedermeier chair veneered in cherry wood with a "futuristic" design, from the circle of Joseph Danhauser. Vienna, 1815-20 approx. The piece is in practically intact condition, with a masterful shellac finish applied using a museum-standard technique on the original patina. It has been consolidated and the upholstery covered in elegant ivory-colored satin. A piece of significant museum importance, with a captivating design "that conquers time", typical of the high cabinet-making of the Viennese designers of the first part of the Biedermeier period.
