"Saint John the Evangelist" unpublished oil on canvas by Gaetano Lapis (Cagli 1703-Rome 1773), known as il Carraccetto. Splendid painting of significant interest for enriching the catalog of the great master from the Marche region, a student of Sebastiano Conca. Lapis was a painter of great merit, with commissions of considerable prestige, especially religious ones. In 1739 he was appointed among the "Virtuosi del Pantheon" and in 1741 he became a member of the Academy of San Luca. Also in 1741 he was also "Director of the Academy or school of the nude in Campidoglio", established by Pope Benedict XIV.
The painting, in excellent condition, is accompanied by the expertise of Prof. Giancarlo Sestieri. Beautiful gilded frame from the 1800s. Canvas dimensions 100x74, with frame 120x94
