Article Description
Early 18th-century walnut chair. Four legs, joined with crosspieces, extend vertically supporting a wide upholstered seat. The open backrest shows the continuity of the rear legs joined at the top by a crosspiece richly decorated with a fretted pattern. The only other decoration is found on the legs and backrest, where the external profiles are slightly rounded. The chair, with its beautiful proportions, has an essential design, sober but quite elegant. The austerity, still linked to the stylemes of the previous century, begins, in this model, to become more gentle and light.
