This small and elegant chest of drawers was made in Genoa, northern Italy, around the mid-18th century. This model of chest of drawers is inspired by the models that spread in France during the Louis XV period and which all cabinetmakers immediately took inspiration from. It consists of four drawers, two of which are smaller at the top. It has a wooden structure entirely lacquered in light ochre decorated with floral and foliate ornaments and still life compositions of fruit in shades of red. The handles and keyhole escutcheons are in finely chiseled burnished bronze, typical of the Louis XV period. The molded top is in Rosso Francia marble, a marble from abroad that was very precious and expensive at the time. The chest of drawers has a front and sides moved by the curved line, slender and slightly curvilinear legs. The front legs are embellished with burnished bronze tips chiseled in the shape of an acanthus leaf.
This piece of furniture is quite rare due to its small size, which makes it easy to fit into any environment. Very decorative due to its sinuous lines and its fine decoration, it is suitable both next to antique furnishings and next to modern furniture and objects.
