Portrait of François Langlois known as the Chartres
Circle of Anton van Dyck (Antwerp 1599 - London 1641)
Oil on canvas
Second half of the 17th century
Canvas size 73 x 60, frame 86 x 73
Excellent condition, already cleaned and lined.
The painting echoes the very famous prototype preserved in the National Gallery in London, which over time has gained so much fame and is distinguished by its extreme quality and clear and refined brushstroke. The colors are extraordinarily vibrant without tonal shifts and still full of light. The work is evidently of a very high pictorial level, so much so that it can be assigned to the production of the close circle of Van Dick, probably produced in his workshop by one of his valued collaborators or, a few years later, by one of his best students.
The quality of the painting, in fact, is such that it can compete with the works created by the great Flemish Master.
The excellent condition allows you to enjoy the painting in all its beauty without annoying restorations and repainting.
It is complete with a beautiful golden frame in pure gold.
