Beautiful and refined 18th century burnished terracotta sculpture from Faenza, depicting the Blessed Virgin with Child and four Angels on an oval table. The work, derived from the fifteenth-century Florentine sculptor and ceramist Luca della Robbia, made in high relief and low relief, is surmounted by the "Dove of Peace" to increase the symbolic value of the representation.
Works of this exquisite workmanship, of Tuscan Renaissance derivation, are typical of the neoclassical period of the end of the 18th century - beginning of the 19th century of which the school of majolica and ceramics from Faenza is the maximum representative.
Excellent state of conservation within a beautiful coeval walnut frame with an oval shape like the sculpture.
