The nude figure stands out against the black background of the painting in a particularly plastic way.
The generous forms of the girl contribute to making the work very sensual, especially when compared with Bucci's standards, who is rarely “aggressive” in the direct depiction of a nude.
The German model, however, looks elsewhere, as if absorbed in her thoughts, which completely dampens the impact of her physicality on the viewer, rebalancing Bucci's modus operandi.
The choice of the totally black background is completely new and particularly apt.
