German copperplate engraver and cosmographer, in 1544, after twenty years of study, he contributed to writing the Cosmographia universalis, the first description of the world in German published from 1544, then translated and published in various languages.
This print taken from Cosmographia universalis, book two and sheet LXXII as engraved at the top right, describes the city of Milan in an imaginary way, characterized by various towers and turrets that stand out towards the sky, each depicted in a different form. Below the image is the description of the city in German and on the back of the sheet are images of monarchs and philosophers respectively to the right and left of the text in German. This is one of the very first depictions of the city.
Excellent impression. Excellent condition.
