This refined pair of armchairs was made in Venice at the beginning of the 19th century, in gilded wood, finely carved with rocaille motifs characteristic of the Louis XV period. The carvings create low-relief phytomorphic elements of great plasticity and elegance. The backrest, with a pentalobate shape, has a particular, very balanced inclination, which allows the seats to be both comfortable and to lean on comfortably, as well as to be able to bring the armchairs closer to a wall without creating an evident detachment. The armrests are curved and end with a scroll sculpture decorated with acanthus leaves. The band under the seat is mixtilinear with a rocaille element in the center. The arched and curved legs, enriched with carvings, end with a phytomorphic foot.
The armchairs, in a good state of conservation, solid and stable, are suitable for use. They can be considered in a room near sofas, as head chairs, on the sides of a console or chest of drawers, and are pleasant both near antique and modern furniture.
