Elegant and refined coffee table, made in Tuscany in the Neoclassical period, around the late 18th century.
The coffee table is made of finely carved wood with a classicizing taste, then lacquered black and gilded. The circular top is lacquered to simulate Egyptian green porphyry.
The band under the top, which includes a drawer, is decorated with carvings with gilded branches and leaflets that intertwine, running along the entire circumference. Palmette frames and rounds with male profile faces and heads of divinities complete the decorative program.
The four truncated pyramid legs fit with a concave capital and terminate with a gilded circular tip. Even on the surface of the legs, gilded bas-relief sculptures embellish and create a pleasant chromatic contrast.
The coffee table is of graceful dimensions, easily placed in any context and environment, either in the center of a room, between two sofas or armchairs, or in a corner as a support for bronzes, vases, candelabra or various other objects. The dark color and the original contrast with the gold makes this small table perfect both next to antique furniture and in modern environments.
