"Saint Jerome in Meditation" oil on canvas by Jan van Balen (Antwerp 1611-1654), Flemish painter, son and pupil of Hendrick, an important Flemish painter and master of Antoon van Dyck. The painting, of very high quality, can be dated to the period after his return home, after his stay in Rome from 1639 to 1642, as amply illustrated in the technical data sheet, attached, by Professor Alessandro Nesi. The painting, relined, is in exceptional condition. Non-antique frame. Canvas measures 81.5x65 cm, with frame 87x71 cm.
