This small depiction of the Virgin and Child is a splendid oil sketch on canvas executed around the mid-18th century. It is a typical work suitable for domestic devotion with particularly pleasant characteristics, where the Madonna is portrayed with a sweet and serene expression and the Child smiles happily with a fruit in his hand.
Executed in one go, with a quick but effective painting style, it refers to a canvas by the Bolognese Carlo Cignani.
