Pair of antique granite capitals

Pair of medieval spolia capitals entirely sculpted from two imposing granite blocks. Era: 15th century Origin: Italy, Lombardy area Materials: granite In excellent state of preservation, normal wear and tear due to age. The two capitals, which we could equate to a design that takes up the Greco-Roman composite style in a "modern" key for the time, readapted for the occasion. All four sides are worked, two bearing a shield, the other two sculpted with foliage culminating in floral motifs. They are spolia, coming from a Lombard Renaissance palatial context and are full of the charm that only the patina of about 500 years can confer.
