Exceptional painted palace door, mid-18th century, Turin.
Incredible single-leaf interior door with a arched frame, in night blue lacquered wood and lavishly decorated in water-gilded gold leaf, with ramage motifs, which, contrasting the dark background, give lightness and luminosity to the whole.
The Rococo-style door, coming from an aristocratic residence, consists of panels, defined with gilded frames in solid gold leaf, concentric and shaped in the upper part and other straight ones, in the lower part.
The frames are interspersed with spectacular gilded carvings in relief, in the shape of shells, flowers, leaves and at the top, centrally, there is a floral garland.
The whole acquires greater prestige and completeness, given the presence of the chiseled and gilded bronze handle with the presence of a female head and at the bottom, a grotesque, as well as all the decorations and sinuous movements, typical of the mid-18th century, which reflect those of the door; the four original gilded hinges complete the whole.
The light, filtering into the central embossed and convex friezes, creates a further chiaroscuro effect, adding a refined touch to a true work of art of excellent quality and not easily found.
The rear part is in light blue-grey lacquer.
The door is in almost perfect condition, while the frame has received some lacquer restorations, compatible with the period and use.
