Portrait of a gentlewoman (1851)  Translated
Description:
The immobility of the pose does not prevent the florid gentlewoman from expressing the lively, sober and lordly spirit of the social class to which she belongs. It is an active and wealthy Milanese class that reaches us in the portraits of Mauro Conconi, Eliseo Sala, Giuseppe Molteni, Hayez etc., in a gallery of noble landowners and solid bourgeois who show us the high society of pre-Risorgimento Milan. Mauro Conconi was one of the most appreciated Milanese artists of his time, both as a portraitist and for the countless religious and historical works he created in the most important palaces of the city and Lombardy. The painting is signed and dated 1851. Oil on oval canvas of cm. 98.5 x 74, perfect conditions of preservation.  Translated
