Stefano Magnasco (Genoa c. 1635 - c. 1670) "Bacchic Scene of Putti"
Description:
Stefano Magnasco (Genoa c. 1635 - c. 1670) "Bacchic Scene of Putti" oil on canvas 115 x 90 cm. Expert appraisal by Prof. Giancarlo Sestieri. A qualitative and refined "Bacchic Scene of Putti" that can be attributed to the Genoese Flemish current, of Rubenesque inspiration, which had seen among its most valid interpreters first Strozzi, Castiglione, Vassallo, and then Valerio Castello who, in his youthful Rubenesque period, repeatedly painted pictures centered on festive putti. This "Bacchic Scene" is to be attributed to Castello's pupil, Stefano Magnasco, and directly relates to his "Bacchic Scene of Putti". Beautiful antique but not contemporary carved and gilt wooden frame. The work is accompanied by a certificate of guarantee and authenticity.
