Emilio Gola (Milan 1851-1923) - Portrait of a Lady
Description:
EMILIO GOLA (Milan 22 February 1851 – 21 December 1923) "Portrait of a Lady" oil painting on canvas, 118 x 80 cm Signed lower right Beautiful original frame of the period A student of Sebastiano De Albertis, after overcoming indecision between realism and impressionism, between Scapigliatura and divisionism, around 1890 he developed a personal language aimed at expressing pure pictorial emotions, both in figures and in landscapes and seascapes. One of his best paintings was the Portrait of his Mother, with which he won a gold medal at the Munich exhibition. He was one of the first, along with Segantini, to share the honor of being invited to the Carnegie International Exhibition in Pittsburg, as he was for all foreign exhibitions. In addition to the Modern Art Gallery in Milan, his paintings can be found in the National Gallery of Rome, the International Art Gallery of Venice, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the Mesdag Museum in The Hague, the Edison Palace in Milan and in many private collections.
