ROMAGNA WALNUT CABINET FROM THE LATE 1600s - EARLY 1700s (NEW ENTRY)
Description:
Charming walnut cabinet from the late 17th - early 18th century.
A good quality piece of furniture with a solid rustic-elegant Romagna style. It features a framed central door that conceals the interior with a single central shelf. Some late 19th century restorations indicate the original presence of an upper drawer that was later closed (the restoration is rightly highlighted by the lighter color of the wood where the drawer was located).
The sides have elegantly rounded edges. Triple overhanging frame at the top, moldings at the bottom. Graceful support shelf with two bilateral curls. Original back of the period.
Old but not original lock.
This type of furniture was used as an aid in the domestic life of the house. They were furniture kept mainly in dining rooms (also for representation) to contain dishes and crockery for daily use but also precious.
Emilia-Romagna, late 1600s - early 1700s
