GOLDSCHEIDER, JOSEF LORENZL, hand-painted ceramic figurine  Translated
Dimensions: : 30 cm cm,: 26 cm cm
Description:
Graceful figurine depicting a ballerina, work of the well-known Austrian sculptor and ceramicist Josef Lorenzl (1892-1950) for the Goldscheider porcelain manufactory, a refined example of ceramic art decorated in polychrome under glaze from the 1920s in the full Art Deco spirit. Under the rhomboid base is the signature painted in black "Lorenzl" and the mark of the Goldscheider manufactory - Made in Austria. Dimensions: Height 30 cm Length 26 cm Base diameter 19 cm x 12 cm The Austrian master, remembered for his "figurines", often focused his artistic research on celebrating the sinuous morphology of the female body, focusing his attention on the grace of dancing ballerinas. The woman depicted here is one of the trademarks of Lorenzl's production, graceful in all its development and punctuated by the graceful movements of her slender body. The musical cadence of her barely hinted steps and the stylistic trend of her pelvis and arms do justice to this small masterpiece, evoking the radiant 1920s, recalling timeless myths such as Niddy Impekoven or Joséphine Baker. Like his contemporaries Ferdinand Preiss (1882-1943) and Demetre Chiparus (1886-1947), Lorenzl dedicated himself, in addition to ceramic production, to the creation of bronze or chryselephantine sculptures, that is, made up of a combination of different materials such as ivory, bronze, gold and silver.
