Gustav Klingert (1865-1916) Biography
Gustav Klingert, of German origin, began his career working as a master for Fabergé. In 1865 he founded his factory in Moscow, employing over 20 craftsmen. In 1889 he exhibited at the Universal Exposition in Paris, where his works were a great success. Four years later, at the Chicago World's Fair, Klingert was recognized as one of Russia's most important goldsmiths. Thanks to the great success, the company began exporting its works to the United States through Tiffany & Co. In 1896 Gustav Klingert was granted the Imperial Warrant.
After Gustav's retirement, the business was carried on by his sons, until it was forced to close due to the outbreak of the Russian Revolution.
