Pastel painting on paper, depicting: "Portrait of a young woman", signed Vittorio Cavalleri (Turin 1860-1938). Son of a fabric merchant, he enrolled at the Albertina Academy of Turin and had Andrea Gastaldi as his teacher; in the same year he graduated, 1883, he exhibited at the Circolo degli Artisti; he then participated in the Promotrice di Belle Arti. Later he taught in Turin, at the evening courses of the Albertina Academy.
In 1885 he moved to Gerbido, on the outskirts of Turin, and lived in the home of his student, Mario Gachet.
