Antique pair of large Sardinian silver filigree buttons
Description:
Antique pair of large Sardinian buttons (cm.Ø3.5) handmade in silver filigree in the early 1900s: they are part of the set for traditional Sardinian costumes, used to close the collar of the shirt or applied in a row on the sleeves of women's jackets (Sa buttonera). The buttons, which due to their shape recall the maternal breast of the Punic goddess Tanit, may vary in shape, decoration and size depending on the areas of Sardinia without losing their meaning: they were a symbol of good luck and fertility. Perfect state of preservation.
