"Salvator Mundi" SOLD  Translated
Description:
Detailed Description Carlo Maratta (Camerano 1625, Rome 1713) "Salvator Mundi" Oil on canvas Canvas size 41 x 33 frame 63 x 55 Second half of the 17th century The painting is complete with a gilded 19th-century frame. We present this magnificent work by Maratta, certain that we can satisfy even the most selective collectors. It is a splendid canvas by one of the most celebrated authors of Italian Baroque painting, and many of his works are exhibited in major international museums (Metropolitan, National Gallery, Rijksmuseum, and many others). The Christ Child in the attitude of "Salvator Mundi" is depicted with great pictorial effectiveness, and the face of the small protagonist truly has a magnetic gaze. The painting, of small size, was probably commissioned for private use, and the face of the Christ Child presents beautiful features highlighted by Maratta's great skill in portraiture. The subject is particularly intriguing, as well as very pleasing, and gladdens both the sight and the soul. It is certainly a small masterpiece by Carlo Maratta that manages to fascinate the viewer and involve him in the message of the Protagonist.  Translated
