Genoese inlaid Charles X chest of drawers
Description:
Chest of drawers veneered in walnut wood and richly inlaid in maple, topped with white Carrara marble. Dating back to the early 19th century, typical Charles X period feet (circa 1830). Ignazio Scotto School (cabinetmaker from Savona in the 19th century, nicknamed "the Jesus Christ" for his great skill in inlaying. Scotto, an inlayer active in Genoa and Savona. Participated in the Italian exhibition held in Florence in 1861. Noted with praise by Demetrio Finocchietti in 1873)
