Item description: Walnut and walnut burl chest of drawers. The four large drawers, fitted with locks, feature pleasant marquetry through the use of maple threading that creates reserves within which a beautiful walnut burl has been placed. The hardware, in stylistic harmony with the furniture, completes the display of the drawers. The sides of the piece have a pleasant carving, consisting of curved lines creating a large central panel, a typical decoration of the period. The overhanging top is reinforced in its thickness by an elaborate frame. Along the sides on the front, two vertical faceted cornices run, while cantilevered feet support the furniture. The beautiful walnut essence, rich in shades ranging from blonde to dark brown, is enhanced by the workmanship of the sides, where, through the use of the carving technique, we can also admire the considerable thickness of the wood used. The front of the piece, even more precious, with the use of burr, presents a refined score that softens the considerable proportions of the furniture. The chest of drawers, considered the "prince in furniture", is not "heavy" or austere, but rather light and of pleasing proportions.
