Description:
Delightful Napoleon III perfume box (13x9 cm, h.9) of excellent quality, made in France in the second half of the 19th century. Rectangular in shape, made of leather with a domed lid and push-button closure, it is decorated with small bossed elements. Inside, the celestial velvet housing (10x5 cm; photo n°3) contains two delightful square-shaped glass perfume bottles (photo n°4: 3x3 cm; h.5), with mountings on the neck and lids in engraved gilded metal. The upper part of each bottle's lid is painted with miniature scenes of urban Paris (photos n°5 and 6) using the verre églomisé technique: it was painted in reverse on the internal surface of the glass. The antique perfume holder is in good condition: since the original internal stoppers are still present (photo n°8), it is possible to restore it to the use for which it was made.
