Antique wooden chest, Piedmont, first half of the 18th century.
Description:
The chest is made of solid walnut wood, entirely assembled with dovetails; the interior is covered in wrought and beaten iron. The chest has a material thickness of approximately 5cm, and several rhomboid studs inlaid in the wood on all sides have been added to further reinforce the structure.
The central lock is original and fully functional, featuring two distinct closures that can be operated by a single key via a secret mechanism.
The key is a small baroque masterpiece, the handle is made of buffalo horn, and the barrel is shaped like a pike.
Inside the chest, we find a row of small walnut wood drawers, also original and untouched.
