Oval, extendable walnut table. A large, oval-shaped top, finished with an ogee edge and reinforced by a belt, also ending with an applied cornice, is supported by a solid and decorated central faceted support ending in four shaped corbel feet richly decorated with volutes and carvings. The furniture, of imposing figure, emphasizes through the curved lines, which then turn into elaborate and elegant volutes in the support, a desired sense of stability and firmness, loved by the bourgeoisie of the time based on economic and industrial stability and no longer on high-sounding titles but very often without a stable foundation. Thus the furniture of this era, solid, firm, stable and obviously rich in carvings and decorations to highlight a wealthy class. The possibility of considerably extending the top, through a sliding mechanism, allows to increase the number of diners on special occasions, and then return to the initial dimensions in everyday life.
