Unpublished painting depicting "Brawl among Peasants" by Eberhard or Bernhard Keilhau (Helsingor 1624 - Rome 1687) known as Monsù Bernardo. He was the most famous painter of antiquity in Denmark. In Italy, he was known by the pseudonym Monsù Bernardo. At the age of eighteen, he arrived in the Netherlands and worked in Rembrandt's workshop for two years. In addition to altarpieces, his early works, he was one of the most original genre painters and massively influenced the art of genre painters such as Salvator Rosa, Antonio Amorosi, and other representatives of 17th and 18th century Italian painting, with visionary and popular subjects. After a period in Venice and Bergamo, in 1656, he arrived in Rome, where he painted his most characteristic works, also influenced by Caravaggism and the Bamboccianti School. The work is accompanied by an expertise from Prof. Maria Pia Mannini. The painting is set within a splendid contemporary gilded frame. Canvas dimensions h 89.5 x 113 cm, with frame 108 x 131 cm.
