Oil on panel by Aldo Affortunati, dating back to the 1940s.
Aldo Affortunati (Castenuovo di Garfagnana 1906 - 1991) lived in Florence. He began painting Tuscan landscapes, created in the style and technique of the 'Macchiaioli' movement. He abandoned the paintbrush and took up the palette knife (small spatula) with which he applied masses of color to the canvas, without spreading them, achieving greater brilliance. His works are included in collections in the United States, Brazil, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, etc. His exhibition in New York was very successful. He had solo exhibitions in Rome, Bologna, Biella, Florence, Milan, Turin, New York, etc.
