"Madonna and Child" by Francesco di Simone da Santacroce (San Pellegrino Terme 1470-75 - Venice 1508). Francesco di Simone da Santacroce moved to Venice with his family and began working in the workshop of Giovanni Bellini, before opening his own called the painters of Santacroce, which remained active until the seventeenth century. Artists such as Francesco Rizzo, Andrea Previtali and Palma il Vecchio came from this workshop. His early works were strongly influenced by Andrea Mantegna, and then continued in the manner of Giovanni Bellini, his master, in particular in the use of his typical colorful Venetian palette. His works can be found at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, the Diocesan Museum of Padua, San Pellegrino Terme, etc. The oil painting on canvas was restored and relined about ten years ago and measures cm. 63.5x53.
