Yorkshire landscape painter, born in Scarborough in 1847 and died in 1922. He exhibited from 1864-93 at Suffolk Street, also at the Royal Academy (1872-73).
His images are mostly coastal views of Yorkshire. He lived in London and painted paintings of Surrey and Sussex, then visited South Africa, where he made many paintings on commission.
In 1917 he exhibited a view of the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi at the Royal Academy. Many of his paintings are in the City Art Gallery of York.
Excellent state of preservation.
