Elegant English oval gate-leg table in oak with bobbin legs. These were the typical tables used by the English to serve afternoon tea.
The tabletop is divided into three parts, a fixed central part supported by four legs and two side flaps which, when raised, are supported by the typical "gate" legs that rotate on pivots. When the flaps are lowered, the feet that support them fit perfectly into the crosspieces.
Gate-leg tables entered English furniture as early as the 16th century, winning the preferences of the British public. It is a very linear and sober piece of furniture; the structure of the legs, on the other hand, changes according to fashion and ends up characterizing the entire table.
